The Employment Pass (EP) in Singapore is a work visa specifically designed for foreign professionals, managers, executives, and specialists looking to work in Singapore. It is issued by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and allows holders to live and work in Singapore. Here's a detailed guide on the EP and how to apply for it:

1. Eligibility Criteria for Employment Pass:

Job Position: Must be for a managerial, executive, or specialized job.

Minimum Salary: The candidate must earn at least S$4,500 per month (higher for more experienced candidates).

Qualifications: Generally, a good university degree, professional qualifications, or specialized skills.

2. Application Process:

Before Applying: Ensure that the candidate meets the eligibility criteria. Prepare a job description, employment contract, and details of the candidate’s qualifications and work experience.

Application Submission: The application can be submitted online via MOM’s EP Online portal or manually. Online submissions are generally processed faster.

Documents Required:

Personal particulars page of the candidate’s passport.

Company’s latest business profile or instant information registered with ACRA.

Educational certificates and past employment testimonials.

A detailed CV or resume of the candidate.

A completed Employment Pass application form.

Application Fee: There is an application fee that must be paid when submitting the application.

3. Application Review by MOM:

The MOM reviews the application, which may take around 3 weeks for online applications and longer for manual applications. Complex cases may take more time.

4. Application Outcome:

If approved, an In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter will be issued, which is valid for 6 months from the date of notification.

5. Issuance of Employment Pass:

Once in Singapore, the candidate must make an appointment with MOM to complete the formalities.

Required documents for EP issuance include the IPA letter, passport, medical exam report (if applicable), and any other documents requested in the IPA.

A fee is required for the issuance of the EP.

6. EP Card Registration:

After the formalities are completed, an EP card will be issued. The card must be collected in person by the candidate.

7. Duration and Renewal:

The EP is usually issued for up to 2 years initially and can be renewed thereafter.

Renewal applications should be submitted at least 2 months before the EP expires.
